Digitally printed textiles are eco friendly

The benefits of using organic fabric printing

Fabric printing is a process that uses heat and pressure to transfer ink onto fabric. It’s used for many different purposes, including clothing, home decor, and even art projects.

Organic fabric printing is a process where ink is applied directly to the material without any chemical or synthetic additives. This means that no harmful chemicals are used during the manufacturing process, which makes it safe for use around children and pets.

There are several reasons why people choose to use organic fabric printing instead of other methods. One reason is because it’s environmentally friendly. Another reason is that it’s safer than traditional methods.

At Snella, we only accept certified organic materials made in the European Union. Knowing that they are organic means they are produced more ethically, with fewer resources, and stimulate biodiversity. You can read more about this topic in my previous blog post.

We choose to print the textiles with digital inkjet printing to save even more resources. It works exactly like a desktop printer, only a lot bigger! Water-based inks are transferred directly to the fabric without additional water. They do not require any further treatment to fixate the print. This makes the process less labor-intensive than rotary screen printing, and fewer errors are likely to occur. This means less waste! Because fewer steps and workers are involved, facilities do not have to be very large, saving energy.

One great thing about digital printing is that it's possible print realistic photo images onto textiles. With the new printers, they can precisely print fine lines and details. The possibility of colours and gradients is endless, so there are no design limits.

Think about who made your clothes, what's in them and how they where made!

Take care,

Hannah
